Homestay Host Insurance Policy and Liability Waiver

Insurance Requirements for Hosts

As a host, you are responsible for obtaining and maintaining adequate liability insurance that protects both you and your guests. This insurance should cover:

  • Your liability for any incidents arising from the student’s actions.
  • The student’s liability for any damages or injuries that occur during their stay. For Renters

If you are renting, you must obtain written permission from your landlord to host students. Please present this documentation during the OZiHOUSE Host Interview and Site Inspection Visit.

    Home Safety and Maintenance

You are also responsible for keeping your home safe and well-maintained. If you or someone in your household damages the student’s belongings, you must cover the repair or replacement costs. We recommend having property and liability insurance to cover any accidental damages.

    Insurance Types

1. Public Liability Insurance 2. Home and Contents Insurance

You must have a minimum of $20 million in public liability coverage.

This should include:

  • Your liability to the student in case ofinjury or property damage.
  • The student’s liability to you for anydamage to your property or personal injury.
  • Ensure that your existing policy includes coverage for third-party liabilities. Many standard home policies do not cover individuals who are not family members.
  • If you are renting, check with your landlord or property manager to see if their insurance covers you.
  • If your current policy does not meet these requirements, you may need to purchase additional coverage

Host Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for maintaining insurance that covers damages, theft, or injuries that may occur during the homestay. We do not provide financial or insurance advice, so we strongly recommend consulting your insurance provider to confirm your coverage.

• Certificate of Currency: Please submit a copy of your Certificate of Currency (a document confirming your insurance policy is active) for relevant insurances when you renew them.

Important – Liability Waiver

By hosting students, you agree to indemnify OZiHOUSE, our staff, and students from any liability for theft, loss, injury, or damages to property or contents, including claims arising from the student’s actions during their stay.
